The Garden Club of Trenton was organized with 10 charter members at the home of Mrs. Frederic A. C. Perrine in 1912. We became affiliated with the Garden Club of America in May 1913. Today, we are a small and spirited club that takes pride in our roots: from friendly competition in club flower shows with a reputation for excellence to floral design, to continuing longstanding civic activities on behalf of the 1719 William Trent House, the New Jersey State Museum, and Trenton school children. Our recent conservation efforts include establishing a garden at the Nelson House within Washington Crossing State Park and helping to revitalize the the park’s George Washington Memorial Arboretum by planting native trees to mark our centennial in 2012. The Club will plant an additional ten native trees in Fall of 2020.
In addition to its civic projects, the Club conducts monthly business and program meetings from September through June in a variety of local venues and in members’ homes. These meetings feature lectures, educational workshops, and club competitions in horticulture, floral design and photography.
