Scholarship Opportunities Abound!
As a member of The Garden Club of America, the Garden Club of Trenton is pleased and proud to promote the many diverse scholarship opportunities available through the GCA to undergraduate and graduate students.
Since 1928 when the Rome Prize Fellowship in Landscape Architecture was first established, The Garden Club of America has funded more than 1,400 recipients and offers 29 merit-based scholarships and fellowships in 12 areas related to conservation, ecology, horticulture, and pollinator research. In 2020, $306,000 was awarded to 64 scholars.
The Garden Club of America contacts universities, arboreta and botanic gardens to encourage them to advertise our scholarships to their students and interns. Twelve of the scholarships are managed by GCA staff and volunteers. Selection committees comprised of the GCA and community volunteers read applications and recommend candidates to be voted on in March each year.

Help Us Recognize an Exceptional Teacher!
Do you know an exceptional local teacher who molds, inspires, and influences young people to be stewards of nature? Our Garden Club wants to know about this individual. The Garden Club of America, as part of its Scholarship program, offers an award to an individual who provides outstanding education for our youth. The Elizabeth Abernathy Hull Fund for Early Environmental Education was established "to recognize an individual who, through working with children under 16 years of age in horticulture and the environment, has inspired their appreciation of the beauty and fragility of our planet."
This award is presented annually for imparting to children a love and concern for the natural environment. Local GCA Garden Clubs are asked to nominate teachers – and if you know someone who deserves to be recognized, please don’t keep it to yourself! Tell us about this individual here.
